Today's Verse
Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick. The Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
Reflection
When you are facing sickness or weakness, James encourages you not to walk through it alone. There is beauty in reaching out to your church family for prayer and support. This passage reminds you that God works through the care of others and through humble prayer. Anointing with oil was a sign of setting someone apart for God’s attention and care. While God is always able to heal, the emphasis here is on faithful, loving community and trust in the Lord’s mercy. Whether healing comes in body, spirit, or in a deeper sense of forgiveness, you are invited to seek help and open your heart to God’s grace.
A Prayer for Today
God, thank You for the gift of community and for Your presence in times of sickness. Help me to trust You and to reach out for support when I need it. In Jesus' name, amen.
